i want to learn programming specially visual basic 2005. but let me tell you first thing is i dont know anything about programming. almost new for programming world, is it possible to learn programming for a person who dont have a single knowledge of any kind of programming. and my aim is to learn vb 2005, few people told me that u must have good command over VB 6 or c or c++ to learn programming under .net environment.
can someone suggest me what to do weather to start learn programming or to leave idea behind.
i am confused, i dont know from where to start ?
VB 2005 learning guide?
in my opinion rather than wasting time in other language, you can directly start with .net but start from scratch and learn everything in order. do not jump from ist to middle level. it might take time to understand and using logic. first just start with basic things like designing form using toolbox controls. using msgbox/inputbox etc.
after gaining cmmand over basic things then move to databse programming i.e. ADO
good luck
Reply:I think that to start from VB is not a good idea..
If you want to learn the .NET environment, start from the c# (it's an ISO language).. and without use of winform .. but only from OOP arguments.. exercise, and also learning on network, web services, ado.net ...

Problem in Programming ? help please?
hi,
How i can write a Subroutine or Function in Compaq Visual Fortran which can find regular expressions in source code.
I think Fortran contains functions such as (Verfiy )and (Scan)
But who can not operate with regular expression .
(You can say a function that looks like. Net (match ), but in FORTRAN)
(you can write it in your answers if is in C++ ,but no laison with .NET )
Thanks
Problem in Programming ? help please?
Fortran ??? 1957 ???? it's been so long. Fortran you define every definition. Your question intrigued me and I find modern products like Zeus for the Fortran language. You'll have to google like I did. --%26gt; fortran RegEx
I KNEW there was a reason why I specialized in java.

Hijackthis log file, i have Dr.Watson Post Mortem problem pleaze help?
Dr. Watson is NOT your problem, he is only alerting you that you have another problem. Don't shoot the messenger!
The good Doctor is a Microsoft employee. He is not a virus, a spyware or any other malware. He wears a white hat.
"Dr. Watson for Windows is a program error debugger that gathers information about your computer when an error (or user-mode fault) occurs with a program. Technical support groups can use the information that Dr. Watson obtains and logs to diagnose a program error. When an error is detected, Dr. Watson creates a text file (Drwtsn32.log) that can be delivered to support personnel by the method they prefer..."
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308538
Sometimes the Doctor will show up unexpectedly, then dissapear just as quickly and not show his face again for months and months.
I would not be concerned unless Dr. Watson starts to appear on a regular basis. If he does then you have serious issues with your Windows operating system. Often a reformat and complete re-install of Windows is needed.
Disabling Dr. Watson will only hide the symptoms, not provide a cure for the problem.

How to access IIS's aspnet_regiis utility?
I just installed IIS 5.0 and want to use the aspnet_regiis.exe command utility to register ASP.Net file mappings with IIS.
According to the asp.net book I have, the directory of the utility is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\Framework\[Version]\... -i
However, when I checked the directory, there is no Framework folder inside the Microsoft.NET folder.
I have installed MS Visual Studio 2005 before installing IIS. Is there a way to access the utility?
How to access IIS's aspnet_regiis utility?
This is a command prompt utility. To run it go to:
Programs %26gt; Visual Studio 2005 %26gt; Visual Studio tools %26gt; Visual Studio 2005 command prompt
type: aspnet_regiis
if you need to supply special arguments to it, check online help.
Hope this helps.

Computer Programmer - help - i need help getting started. please see...?
I need help deciding where to start on learning the computer language.
My goal is learning C++ and becoming a programmer
and i know it's hard.
Background
-age 16
-softmore (forgot spelling)
i want to learn how to program in C++
%26amp; my teacher suggested that i learn visual basic so i downloaded the program from Microsoft.
Three question is:
1) Is there anything that i have to learn before learning Visual Basic such as XML or anything else?
2) What is the differents between Visal Basic and Visal Basic .Net?
3) Do i just jump right into C++ after i learned Visual Basic or have to know anything else
P.S. if you have any tips or website that would help me, please post or Email
Computer Programmer - help - i need help getting started. please see...?
My only suggestion is to not learn VB. C++ is way more powerful and VB will just force you to learn bad programming habits. Once you learn C++ you'll be able to program VB easily and realize why it isn't as good. Just grab a C++ for dummies book and work through the tutorials, then search online for free stuff, its really easy to learn.
To answer your other questions, .net is a framework that allows you to combine programming languages... there are probably few differences between VB and VB.net, just the way they are compiled and put together. You dont need to learn XML unless you are trying to make some sort of flat file database or are maybe scripts for a website that uses XML. XML takes like 30 minutes to learn so you might as well learn it anyway.
Reply:1) You shouldn't learn VB in my opinion VB is garbage, learn BASICS, QBASICS, or SML(there the same thing), or non at all(to prevent bad habits).
2)Different frame works
3)After learning BASICS(if you did), you should learn C++ right away, just so you don't for get any of the things you learned.
Note: your age doesn't matter im 15 and i program Games, tcp servers/udp servers, databases(sql), and i know several script languages. To be a programmer you have to live and breath programing, i would say after learning c++ i became much more of a nerd, and i am always thinking of programming and i always think of new ways to use polymorphism.
Reply:Get some books, man. You're gonna have to work your way through some practical examples.
Try half.com, or visit a large library (maybe a college library) if you can't spend much money.
Reply:The first step is to decide the language, visual Basic is a good choice.
The second step is to learn the interface for development, you can start with the series Sam's teach you in 21 days and follow the book from the beginning.
The final step is to make exercises, as many as you can.
Then when you are comfortable with basic, change to C++ or Visual C. The main difference is the environment. when you use C++ you are in a text environment, when you use Visual C you are in an Visual environment.
Remember the key is to make several exercises (the more you made, the best).
Reply:Hi!
I don't think you have to learn Visual Basic before C++, as the syntax of each is much different from each other. (But if your teacher says maybe there is some reason.).
Well, you can learn C++ language right away without knowing any other programming language. http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ is the first link given by google. (You should have googled before posting.)
No, you don't have to learn anything before any programming language and XML is not a programming language. XML is a way of storing data.
.Net is MS technology which makes programming much easier. It creates executables which can only run on .Net installed computers. Current version of .Net framework is 3.0.

Once you finish a program what do you do ?
If the teacher asks for source code, just send source code. You don't worry about the executable and so on. Obviously, make sure the code compiles properly, because if the teacher can't compile it, you fail.
Ok, there's two ways you can distribute a program. You can either distribute the source, forcing people to compile it themselves. Or you can distribute the binary, the result after compiling the source.
There's three types of programming languages (this is one way to classify them). Native compilation, JIT compile/bytecode interpreter, and a source interpreter.
So, with a native compilation, you get an executable that depends on the computer itself (or more precisely the processor), the OS, (Windows binaries are different from Linux binaries), and any runtime libraries that your program needs (example is CRT runtime when dynamically linked). When distributing binaries, you need to make sure all three are satisfied. That's why when downloading files, you see information like, Windows, i386. Or Linux, K-8, requires so and so packages on the system, etc. Standard C and Standard C++ give you a native executable.
With JIT compilation or a bytecode interpreter, your executable isn't native. The processor does not understand the instructions in it, because it really is an intermediate file. Instead, you need whatever interpreter or runtime environment is necessary to work with that intermediate file. The intermediate file may or may not be OS specific, depending on how the language works. For .NET languages like C++ .NET, C# .NET, VB .NET, etc., your programs require the .NET runtime to be run. Without it, they won't work. Yes, you will need to tell people that it requires .NET. If they don't have it, they can't use it. Same with Java. People need the Java runtime environment to run java programs.
Source interpeted is like bytecode interpreted or JIT compiled in that you need an interpreter. Ruby and Python are good examples (Python can be distributed in bytecode form though).
Hope my explanation clarifies.
Reply:You have to compile it to a .EXE. You go to the Top Bar that has File Edit View...... When you have a program that is open then there is a Build. Click on that and go to Build.
Reply:I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but there should be a .exe inside your project folder, possibly in the debug or release subdirectories. That is your program.
Reply:Put all the files you used for the program into a zip folder. there should be an .exe file in your debug folder. If not you need to debug your app. Unfortuanitly any computer that wants to use it needs to have the .net framework or Visual Studio installed.

and if i send them the progam will it conflict on there computer ? becouse they dont have the .NET update ?
how do i make a program in C++ and on visual basic so anyone can see it at the end i mean,
how do i convert it to an .EXE file ?
my main question is... what do i do next when i finish the program ?
Additional Details
1 day ago
oh yea my compiler is visual studio
i got it thanks to my university
they got some sort of contract with windows
and yea i see a .EXE in the foulder but culd a none .NET or a none compiler prepared computer execute the program ?
i got
visual studio 2005
How hard is it to learn dotNET?
I'm a jr. in college and know C++, not using visual studio though, and I want to start learning .NET over break. About how long will it take if I get .NET and a book and start to teach myself? I under stand object oriented programming pretty well. What would be a good book to get ? any suggestions??? Are .NET programmers in high demand???
Thanks!
How hard is it to learn dotNET?
If you are fairly proficient in c++, you should have no trouble with c# or visual basic. Also, c++ can be used in the .NET environment in many ways, including the new c++/cli.
I recommend, however, if you are going to go with .NET, use c# or Visual Basic. C# has the most support of the three languages under .NET as it was designed specifically for .NET.
The best book for someone like you would be Andrew Troelsen's Pro C# 2005 and the .Net 2.0 Platform. It's a great book. It works for folks who know how to program, understand OOP, and need to pick up the language quickly.
It's published by Apress, which, personally for me, publishes the best books in the business.
Take a look at this link for starters.

How can i become an online programming teacher.?
Hi, i am a graduate student. I am good in c,c++, java, visual basic programming languages. I want to become an online teacher in these areas and also i want to earn money through it. I have searched the net but i didn't find anything. Can you suggest any idea so that i can teach others and thus i can earn. Please help. Thanks in advance.
How can i become an online programming teacher.?
Try this link as it is for those who want to teach online.

Want to be a Teacher? Already a Teacher?
Without education, there would be no civilization. Teachers transmit the knowledge of the society from one generation to the next. They shape the future by giving important skills and the love of knowledge to students. A career in education can range from giving pre-school children their first taste of learning to teaching adults who are returning to school or pursuing deeply academic subjects with college students. Many people earn online degrees so they can leave less satisfying work for education, a career that looks far into the future. Get started today!
Reply:i think xTrain is always looking for instructors of different areas.

VB language?
Has visual basic got its own language like flash has actionscript if so is VBs lanuage .NET.
and what is the difference between ASP.net (i think this is for web sites using dynamic data) and .NET.
and C# and C+
VB language?
vb is a programming language like c,c++
c#, vb.net are a lot similar and can be used for windows applications or used in asp.net in webapplications
Reply:.Net is a framework, .Net applications compile to CIL (Common Intermediate Language, it looks very much like assembler but it is generic), when an application is run, each method is compiled on the fly and cached before it is run, producing different code binaries for different operating systems, platforms and CPUs in an attempt to maximize performance of the code. Since the intermediate language is generic, over 30 languages can target the same platform, VB.Net, C#, IronPython, and C++ / CLI to name a few. So in .Net, CIL is the real language, and a variety of other high level languages compile down to that.
ASP.Net is a .Net server side language technology, it plugs into a web server such as ISS and can serve pages and run code. It's very similar to PHP, all of the same capabilities exist except you write the server side code in a .Net language.
Comparing C# and C++ is like comparing C++ and Java. C# is Microsoft's answer to Java, in fact those two languages are very similar.

IT skills classification ?
I have my CV to update, and I wonder how to classify these skills :
⁍ Advanced: Java (J2SE, J2EE), Shell Script, Perl, UML, Mozilla Framework, CSS, Ajax, HTML, JavaScript, C, Apache, tinyERP.
⁍ Basic: Plone, Zope, SQL, ASP.NET, PHP, Visual Basic 6, Visual Basic for Applications, Matlab, Merise, Design Patterns.
⁍ Advanced : NetBeans, Eclipse
⁍ Vim, Matlab, Microsoft Access, Macromedia Dreamweaver.
⁍ Linux (Mandrake 10.1, Mandriva 2006, Kubuntu 7.10 – intermediate).
⁍ Microsoft Windows (MS Windows 3.1/95/98/2000/XP, MS-Dos – advanced)).
IT skills classification ?
Break it up into categories
Operating Systems
Computer Languages
Application Software
Databases
edit
You could combine operating systems along with web software to cover your apache question
Not sure what tinyERP is so cannot comment as to what category.
I just suggest you make the categories as narrow or broad as necessary to make your resume look good. Remember, nobody is going to look at your resume and comment on your categories. Just don't make more than 3-4 categories.
The actual job experience is where most of the resume attention (I assume that CV is a UK term for resume) will be.

IT skills classification in a CV ?
I have my CV to update, and I wonder how to classify these skills. It sounds simple, but it's sometime tricky.
Where can I put Apache ? And where goes Design Patterns ? What about TinyERP ?

IT skills classification in a CV ?
On my CV I listed all the software packages/programmes that I know how to use in a section called 'Other Information'.
Or you could list them in the Education Section of your CV along with the name and address of the estasblishment where you passed them.

If I want to give Computer Game Programming a go what should I Use?
I want to try computer game programming but dont know which language to choose I know C++ is used a lot but I use this very little. I use Visual Basic.Net a lot but I dont know if this is the right choice. Ive just downloaded Microsoft C# Express Edition and XNA Studio 1.0 and wonder if these are the right choose?
Any help will be appreciated
If I want to give Computer Game Programming a go what should I Use?
you can do it in any language. For great sample codes, check out http://www.pscode.com
Reply:I used XNA / C# for awhile, but that platform needs to come along with at least a small GUI wrapper, and a real sound engine (not this XACT crap). Now I use MDX 1.0 and C#, and it's pretty good for games. You won't be able to develop a game that needs something like C++ for performance by yourself (no offense, it just takes a lot of work).
Reply:couldn't tell much from your post, but all commercial high quality games are written in c++
Reply:if you ask me id say c++ is the best for highquality stuff. but if you really dont want that maybe you should just try flash...at least as a starter flash is pretty simple comparitivly speaking....
Reply:The best language to use for programming is totally dependant on what type of game you are creating and for what platform.
Website mini games, for example Stick RPG(www.stickrpg.com), would be best created in flash.
A console game, like Final Fantasy(PSX/PS2), would be best coded in C++
A mobile game such as, Quadra Pop (Sony W800i), would be best coded in Java.
Each language has its own plus and negative points. All are very difficult to pick up and use without guidance.
A beginner in this field might want to try RPG Maker, this program requires no knowledge of programming but does give the user a feel for games development. If the user enjoyed this they may wish to learn more about programming.
Reply:Programming a video game is not a good place to start for a beginner. Learn C++ first.
C# and Java are semi-compiled languages that use a runtime engine. That will probably make them less practical for a "real" video game. (They're both great languages, though.)
Start with a simpler task, until you get better at programming.
Reply:I don't know what your main goal with game programming is, but you might check out blender and using it's game engine try programming something. There's a small community using it, but it's good software.
blender.org
google some of the example games made with it.
Reply:Pen and paper first to do all your prototyping, storyboaring, character design etc.
Have a look at the references below for tips on games programming. C++ seems to be the dominant language of game development.
Qooting from Ref 2:
"C/C++ is the leading development language of game creation, Visual Basic by Microsoft has some merit, especially for non- action intensive products, and Delphi, a new language for Windows, by Borland shows promise. For beginners I recommend Visual Basic, perhaps Delphi if they know some programming already. For people already familiar with VB or other flavors of Basic or Pascal, go for C/C++ and some Assembly." - Ben Sawyer (author of 'Ultimate Game Developer's Sourcebook')
Hope this helps!
Reply:well a real game takes a few years to produce with a huge team. thats how EA or Blizzard do it. for you , you should start with flash or
there is a program that helps u make small games . it is called Game Maker. google -it
Reply:if you want to make games i recomand you c/c++, i'm not sure if c# is good. but also you can try java and flash
Reply:Before you undertake learning a language i would recommend learning the basics of procedural and event driven programming. Explore the difference between pocedures and functions and also look into object oriented programming as this will give you a good conceptual understanding of how software works
Reply:C++ is the language used for commercial games. You can create simple games in nearly any language.

You will need to get the handle of the window you are trying to access, and work from there. It involves using the inner workings of the Windows API, and is reasonable tricky as far as I am aware - but it is possible. I don't code in VB or C#, but I've seen similar things discussed in Delphi forums.
Reply:If normal Copy and Paste commands are not working, try saving the text in notepad and just importing the text file into the app. Both Apps need to be open and running for the Copy and Paste to work.

What languages would I need?
Im hoping to be a computer games programmer when Im older and I wondered what languages would I need im learning Visual Basic.Net which isnt used as I know that and Im learning C++ which I know plays a big part in game devlopment so is there any others I need to learn or any good websites to help me get started say making a very basic game using C++?
What languages would I need?
If you master C++ grasshopper, you'll be doing just fine. You may also want to check out http://www.gamasutra.com.
(I just realized that you'd have to be at least 30yrs of age to get the "grasshopper" reference. Yikes I'm old)
Reply:There's lots of websites http://www.ogre3d.org , there's the torque game engine website, Microsoft has a nice DirectX portal, gamasutra.com and gamedev.net.
C++ is great if you want to understand video games, but VB.net is fine too, especially w/ managed DirectX. I personally prefer C# and MDX 1.0 because I can develop applications faster. I have yet to write something that required C++ in terms of performance. If you want to be a computer game programmer though, you will need to know C++ very well, as well as a ton of 3D math.
Reply:Although you can find games written in almost all programming languages but in my opinion most serious game programming is done in C++. A good place to start game programming would be a book on the subject with C++ as the language, DirectX as the library and Windows as the platform. A good book to start would be "Tricks of the Windows Game programming Gurus" by Andre LaMothe. I have it's offline version and I'll be more than happy to send it to you by email and of course for free.
Reply:C++ is probably the best

Reply:C++ is probably the best

Reply:u would probably need somefin like french or other languages like that
Any websites that provides sample codes for web services?
I want to create an auction site implemented using Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2003.
And develop using ASP.NET WEB SERVICE %26amp; ASP.NET WEB APPLICATION.
I'm looking for some sample codes from some websites to help get me started.
Anyone know of any good websites?
Points to note: I'm using a Visual Basic project. So, I won't want something that has got C# or C++, etc.
Thanks.

Making grammar checker with Csharp?
Here is an example for a C# spell checker, it might get you started in the right direction.

Reply:Another thing you can do is put Microsoft Office 2003 on the Web Server and use the Interop DLL's provided by microsoft to run the spelling and grammar checker. It's alot more reliable than some 3rd party controls

Management and Information Systems Major...What classes should I take?
I'm not getting into the upper division courses and is wondering what field in IS is expanding the most? I want to choose my courses wisely so that employers would pick me over somebody else. I'm in a class to learn Visual basic.net right now...Should I take a class to learn C++ ? Or is that mainly for Computer Science majors? I know C++ is for larger programs and VB is used primarily for small business programs...What do you think I should focus on? I am pretty creative and am a very fast typer. I would like to find a career after college where I can try to get at least 35,000 or 40,000...I live in Cleveland right now and may be moving to NC after college with my girlfriend. What are employers looking for basically?

I am from Europe and your English skills would be veryyyyyyyyyy useful, especially if you are a native speaker.
If you choose Germany, France, Italy etc you may have a decent earning potential by teaching a few people in the same time ....Goood marketing strategies needed .English teachers are in demand.

I'm interested about learning software engineering. which direction should I take?
i'm currently enrolled in a community college in the florida panhandle. the first class i'm taking is programming logics and concepts which is the absolute beginner's course. should i start with visual basic.net and then move my way up to c, c++, Java, perl and Ruby? i just need to point myself in the right direction.
I'm interested about learning software engineering. which direction should I take?
I recommend learning C programming first. It is a procedural programming language and it'll introduce to programming syntax and alogrithms...along with memory blocks and pointers, etc. From there, I'd move on to C++. At UC Davis, my C++ professor said the C++ course was the "make or break course" for Computer Science majors. C++ will introduce you to object-orientated programming. You may want to take an introduction to logic course as well. You could also take Java before you take C programming...it's widely used in the industry right now and would be helpful to you, especially if you get into Web 2.0 RIA development. I'd also look at the ciriculum of 4 year universities in your area to see what courses they require in their programs too. Best of luck!
Reply:In addition to a solid background in programming languages (like the ones already mentioned), don't forget that there's much more to Software Engineering. In particular, you need to look at courses in OO Design, design patterns, UML, Testing, Databases etc. A well rounded and effective software engineer has some solid knowledge in these other areas as well as good programming skills.
Reply:Current computer languages, despite their frequent attempts at generality, are just tools suited to specific purposes. You will need to be fluent in several of them to be a competent software engineer.
Pick up "Compilers, Principles, Techniques and Tools" by Aho, Sethi. Read every chapter slowly, and do every lesson thoroughly. Done correctly, it should take you many months, and should require you to do research on the web and ask many more questions
If you know how languages work *in general* it won't matter what language you decide to use later. This book, more than any other, has served me well in my 10 years as a programmer.

Flowlayout Question)~VS.Net 2003?
When I switch to flowlayout in Visual Studio '03, the controls all seem to jumble together and I can't separate them. I was wondering if there is a) something I am doing wrong, b) something else I need to do to make flowlayout work, or c) does flowlayout in '03 just not work right?
I need to know because I am doing a self study training and the book I am using keeps asking me to switch to flowlayout and then it asks me to position my controls. Unfortunately, after I switch to flowlayout, I cannot seem to move my controls around at all and they all stick to each other. Please help.
Flowlayout Question)~VS.Net 2003?
a) Nope, that's the appropriate option
b) You need to structure your controls with line breaks, divs, or tables
c) Flowlayout = normal HTML layout
As for not being able to see them in Design view, I don't know why that would be. Maybe you are missing the "runat" attribute? In HTML view, try putting "%26lt;br/%26gt;" tags after each control.

I would like to install the Visual Studio 2005 in a different hd partition from windows how can I do that?
I´ve tried to choose the destination folder but he still requires 1.4 Gb in C: and a few MB in D:. Is there anyway that I can stall at least the Gigantic Framework .NET in D:?
I would like to install the Visual Studio 2005 in a different hd partition from windows how can I do that?
You probably can install some of the Framework on D if you download the Framework 2.0 SDK and the redistributable, install them in advance, and specify as much to the D drive as possible.
Much of the Framework MUST be installed to c:\windows\mirosoft.net (unless your system partition is on D.) This is because these are effectively become system files in Windows Vista, where managed code becomes the native API.
Reply:I think because there is the files need to copy to system folder like Windows/system32 and other file that need place on system folder, like .NET and other server side application.

In your honest oppinion, What do you think about MS Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition...?
Rate The Language, and the use of the API, GUI, IDE...?
000 is Poor Language
100 is Excellent Language
I Love this new language, because I built my first Web Browser with it, but the only downfall is that your programs will only work under the .NET Framework, I have .NET 3.5 Installed...
I give the language and the software a solid 80%
I only needed to know the following code to do a web browser...
A.
Search for text inside the textbox to go to a specific web site.
WebBrowser1.Navigate (TextBox1.Text)
B.
Go Home, Whatever the Web Browsers Main Page when it loads...
WebBrowser1.GoHome ( )
C.
Go Forward, To go to the page that you were looking at before you clicked back...
WebBrowser1.GoBack ( )
D.
Go Back, To go to the page before the one that your looking at the present time...
WebBrowsser1.GoBack ( )
E.
Refresh, To Refresh Sites like Yahoo Answers, and Stock Market Sites, but most Stock Market Sites, have an automatic Refresh code...
WebBrowser1.Refresh ( )

What are my chances of actually getting a skilled workers visa?
I've checked into a little bit and meet the qualifications. I'm 40, I have a Masters Degree in computer science. I have 10 + plus years work experience in C++. 2 years in Java, Oracle %26amp; Networking. I have .net %26amp; visual basic but those skills are not on the list. I'm single with grown kids that will not be coming. I don't want to migrate just work a few years.
What are my chances of actually getting a skilled workers visa?
I think you have a good chance.
perhaps you could apply for job vacancies online, then if you secure a position that would support your application.
smh.com.au
careerone.com.au
the company may even sponsor you, I think it's for four years.
you could also come here on a visitor visa, the fee is not expensive, and take some time to look around.
alternatively, just make an application to migrate. you can gain Permanent Resident status without needing to make a citizenship application.
you might like to check the tax implications. the Australian government has some fairly nasty rules regarding non-resident and foreign income.
Reply:Just keep trying and ringing people. My cousin has been trying for a year and the only way he is going to get one is to keep ringing them and getting something done about it. They dont usually come to you. You have to go to them.. Hope it helps a bit...
Reply:go to

then click on the link marked "Eligibility Points Test and Requirements"
in the new window click on the links and it will explain how point ar calculated
if you score over 120 there is a good chance youll get a permanent residence visa
for people under 30 there is a 1 year working holiday visa but over 30 the permanent residence visa would be the go
because you get issued with a temp work visa for 2 years before you get the the permanent residence visa
so if you only want to work for 2 years just dont follow up when the temp visa expires
ofcorse dont tell immagration you only want to stay for 2 years
they want to hear you are planing on moving permanently
hope this helps

Should I get visual studio 2005 or 2008?
I don't really understand what .NET is all about. I need a good windows compiler but I wouldn't mind learning another technology or language since C++ is the only language I have. Which one should get? Thanks in advance
Should I get visual studio 2005 or 2008?
U can use Express edition series
Visual Studio Express edition 2008
SQL Server Express edition 2008
Reply:I would go with 2008, since older versions of anything are usually phased out... 2008 edition will be relevant until the next edition is released. 2005 is loosing relevance.

VB.net :Uploading app to website?
I need some help on publishing app to website. Ive taken the following efforts but end up with error.
From the solution explorer, i choose publish option. Then the publish wizard appears and asks me to specify the location to publish my app. I type in the location of my webpage which i doubt whether the add is exactly what it requires. http://www.geocities.com/sandrea83/
Next, i was given 2 options to choose from on whether the app would be available offline. I choose the option only available online.
At last, a short message appears:
Ready to publish to ...the web add i specified earlier. No shortcut will be added to the start menu. The app will be run directly from the install location.
Finally when i clicked the done option: an error occured where it says:
Error 1 Unable to open module file 'C:\Documents and Settings\ping ping\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\newlist\newlist\newlist_Te... System Error %26amp;H80041feb%26amp; C:\Documents and Settings\ping
VB.net :Uploading app to website?
2 suggestions..
In the properties window for the module file, check the 'build action' setting. I think it should be 'compile' but might be 'content'. Play with those settings.
If that fails, save the file elsewhere and delete it from the project temporarily. Try to upload the project without it. This might tell you if there's a problem with that specific file or a general upload problem. It may be some permission or settings issue with Geocities.
Hope that helps, good luck

'friend' access modifier in MS Visual Studio?
Does anyone have any idea why the 'friend' modifier in VB.net works the way it does? In VB.net (and other .net languages), the friend modifier allows the element to be accessed from anywhere in the assembly. But the way I learned it in Borland C++, a friend modifier didn't give universal assembly access, but allowed you to give selective access to other classes. For example:
--- code starts here ---
class a {
public:
void aFunc(void);
}
void a::aFunc(void) {
b *B = new b();
B-%26gt;bFunc();
}
class b {
friend void a::aFunc(void);
private:
void bFunc(void);
}
void main(void) {
a A;
b B;
// the following line is legal:
A.aFunc();
// the following line is illegal (it's private):
B.bFunc();
}
--- code ends here ---
'void a::aFunc(void)' is able to call 'void b::bFunc(void)', but main() is not allowed. 'a::aFunc' is a friend.
Why doesn't VB.net work this way? Is this one of the things that fell out of the obsolete AT%26amp;T C++ Standard?
'friend' access modifier in MS Visual Studio?
The "friend" access modifier in C++ is similar to the "internal" access modifier in VB.NET and C#. "friend" in VB.NET is similar to "protected internal" in C# and doesn't really have an analog in C++.
The main difference that you are seeing is that in C++ you explicitly state that another class has access to the friend class. In .NET either everyone in the assembly has access or not (with regard to the "internal" keyword anyway... obviously you can use public / private etc). In general .NET enforces encapsulation and OO principles more tightly than C++ does... which makes it better or worse depending on your point of view! :)
Reply:If what you are saying is correct, it would be weird behavior indeed. But I'm not an expert .Net programmer. so I don't know.
So, you are saying that the "B.bFunc();" would succeed in .Net, even if the bFunc was declared private???
--- code starts here ---
class a {
public:
void aFunc(void);
}
void a::aFunc(void) {
b *B = new b();
B-%26gt;bFunc();
}
class b {
friend void a::aFunc(void);
private:

Visual basic 2005 need help ?
since i am using computer from 5 to 6 years.i have good command over computers internet etc. now i want to start to learn programming from basic to advance. i dont have any knowledge of language fundamentals. i have seen VB 2005 i have designed some basic interfaces in it. but later i came to know that i must have good concept of OOPS or C or c++. few told me you cant learn VB2005 without learning vb 6 or Vb .net 2003. if i will start learning that it will take 6 or more months and than VB2005. its not look great for me. i dont want develop hardcore giant and multinetwork applications. i am planning to develop midrange of applications relating to inventory accounts etc. my question is
it is possible to learn directly VB 2005 or i have to learn vb 6 and more. guide me in this more suggetions also.
Visual basic 2005 need help ?
all u will need is to read and learn about how u can do things in VB, don't worry about the user interface, it's drag 'n drop which is sooo easy. For VB2005 u'll find plenty of tutorials online that are written in an easy way.
and if someday u ran into something and u want code examples to try to figure ur way through, u can always search for a code example through the google code search engine :
Reply:You have to first learn c++. No need c. Both are quite similar but not same. All the language which are at present is based on c++.
Without knowing c++ u cant master any of the language. Cant capture any concept.
So first learn that. You can learn anything then.
Reply:You do NOT have to learn C++ first. Yes, you can start learning how to program directly with VB.Net. Get your self a good introduction to programming book which focuses on VB.Net 2005.
Search Amazon.com for books.

Visual basic 2005 help?
If you go to microsoft.com and search for VB 2005 you will find tons of links that will give you the options to learn from the pro's, some will offer sample code and some will offer instruction video, and for those that told you you need to learn the others first they are crazy, VB 2005 is the best and easiest of the bunch, it might take you some time surfing the links to find what you want but its there, good luck to you
Reply:You can learn vb2005 without previously learning vb.net 2003 and vb6.0. Send me an email to sumpersun@yahoo.co.uk and might be able to help you with some ebooks.
Reply:U can learn it directly also.

How can IT developer find job in the UK if he has no practice in spoken English, but good writting skills?
You haven't said what your first language is. Without decent spoken English skills colleagues would imagine they would have problems discussing software build and testing plans with you. There may be jobs utilising your primary language. Try a search on an IT job site such as cwjobs and include your spoken language as a search parameter.
Reply:Your english seems fine to me - a little practice speaking it will increase your job prospects a great deal though, be that right or wrong.
Try freelancing! Most correspondence is written and you will have opportunity to practice spoken english when you meet clients and other developers.
Reply:To say you have good "writting" skills would be a failure to start but you could try specialist IT recruitment agencies, that's how I got my job.
Reply:Start by adding your CV to Job boards and CV databases most IT recruitment agencies search these site's.

Inspiring Web designer?
I know XHTML and CSS real well.Right now im in the process of teaching myself dreamweaver and photoshop, then fireworks,flash.Am i going down the right path? What do you recommend next to continue on the path of becoming a freelance web designer/developer? I also have available programs like asp.net and visual studios,SQL server and C#.Do you think it is essential to learn this to become an effective web developer?
Inspiring Web designer?
Javascript, SQL will be important and then PHP or ASP.NET and C# and then JAVA.
you seem to have a good start I also find XML and XSL to be pretty important, and while uncommon, they're just pretty neat. by uncommon I mean just less used in web development even though they're used alot in desktop apps right now, web programmers still prefer databases.
Reply:Going this route will assure you that it will either take several years for you to land a lucrative job or it will assure you that you will forever make the web designer minimum salary.
If you really want to land a job at a corporate company or design studio, you should get some sort of formal education in the field. Most corporations require you to have at least an associates degree before they will hire you. I am sure that I will get several thumbs down for saying this, but I have been in the field many years and make a very good salary. Just call companies that you might want to work at and aks any HR director what the minimum requirements are for jobs. I think its great that you are taking the initiaitve to learn some of the required tools, but employers also want well-rounded individuals that can think and mix well with other educated professionals in their company. Think about that. Good luck!
Reply:everything you are learning is necessary for web design. You are going to need to know all web language.
Reply:If you're going down the "artistic" designer path, then you might want to add Flash to your resume.
If you're going down the "scientific" developer path (programming) then it will depend on your ultimate goal...
For something that looks good on a resume and will land you a job with a large company with in-house webservers... Microsoft .NET framework, ASP, C# (C-Sharp), Microsoft SQL Server).
An alternate "big business" path for those that prefer open-source and are Anti-Microsoft, there's Java and it's accompanying high-end business application development... JSP (Java Server Pages), the Tomcat and JBoss web application servers, JUnit (unit testing), and a development suite like NetBeans or Eclipse. (and since it's all open-source, all this stuff is free).
For development for smaller companies, typically using shared web hosting, and for doing consulting and contract work for such companies, the most popular path is PHP, MySQL, and Apache (especially configuration options available via .htaccess files and the mod_rewrite Apache module).
Another programming "niche" is the programming side of Flash... become a proficient ActionScript developer with a hint of artistic talent and you'll be a rare catch for potential clients.
If you're headed down the programming path, make sure you get started the RIGHT way, by learning methodologies along with your programming language of choice. A good one is Extreme Programming...
Reply:It depends on if you want to be a designer or a developer. If you simply just want to design web pages and build them then you are off to a great start with knowing CSS and XHTML. You will want Dreamweaver and Photoshop. You can pick either Photoshop or Fireworks to design in, that is up to you. Flash is a great skill to have as well along with Action Script 3. You will probably also need to know some javascript.
If you want to be a developer and get into heavy applications then you might want to learn Coldfusion, php, AIR, Flex, etc....

How can i become a better programmer?
I know this is a stupid question.I too know that practice makes a man good programer.But when i practice i feel boredom,though i am prety good when it comes to other things that involve logic .I am quite much interested in logic and have a good interest in things that involve logic and thinking but when it comes to programming THUMBS DOWN.
I have a good knowledge of JAVA,C,C++ and am a novice at visual basic .NET 2005.
I try to program java using notepad but now i am thinking to move to netbeans or eclipse.Plz tell me how can i be a better programmer besides doing a lot of practice.
How can i become a better programmer?
The answer is practice, unfortunately. However, if you are suffering from motivation problems then why not try to make some interesting projects so that you have a vested interest in getting them working, rather than just grinding away at code. E.g. make a program to catalogue your CDs or films. Think about something that you can start off small, and then add more sections in to it. In the example I listed, you could create a basic catalogue system, then add in different search functions, and reports, then add in the facility to load box images, etc, etc, etc.
Reply:Notepad is a wonderful tool. But if you can spend about 50$ I would recommend "Ultra Edit" you can try it free for 30 days.
There are tons of concept books out there to teach you class and functional programing. But here are some tips from someone who has written millions of lines of code.
1 Never write the same line of code twice if you can help it.
2 Program your programming interface to make things faster
3 Write notes - comments make everything easier.
Reply:Definitely get eclipse or netbeans, coding in note pad is far to tedious. This will help with the boredom. Then think of a product or utility you would like to have and try to create it. You need to code something that interest you, it will make practice seem less like practice.
Reply:Well, the main thing that'll make you a good programmer, is, (so sad for you), to overcome the sense of boredom you have with practice. Practice is what it's all about, because programming involves a LIFETIME of learning. It never ends.
The perfect programmer (or technician, or artist, or skillsperson of ANY sort) is the one who is humble enough to be glad to learn new tricks from others (it happens all the time) and to PRACTICE them! (The particular language doesn't much matter.)
Reply:Try learning more about computer science as a whole. While practicing programming is a given, to be really great you must have a firm foundation in the basic theory of computer science, and software engineering. Learn some models of computation, like finite automa and turning machines. Learn about Algorithmic Paradigms like Greedy, Dynamic Programming and Divide and Conquer. In terms of software engineering learn about design patterns, and OO analyst and design, life cycles, and software development processes like RAD, waterfall and UP. These are all things you can read about online or in books and all of it will make you a better and more well rounded programmer.

Question about the .Net framework?
I'm a Visual Basic programmer, but I'm now learning C++.
I have alot (atleast 3000 lines) of VB code that I'd like not to have translate into C++.
Is their a way I can use my VB code in a C++ program.
I think what I'm asking about is the common language runtime.
Thanks very much!
Question about the .Net framework?
Not sure what your VB code is doing.
But if you can, build a libary using your VB code, then refrence the libary in your C++ code

Hi .is some can help me which one i shuald study?
hello if here have someone is do website desige ,i want to study asp/asp.net or php ,but i have not any experience about the asp or php ,i have study some visual c++when i';m is school ,if who can tell me which one is more and which one can get a good job ,thanks
Hi .is some can help me which one i shuald study?
Ignore the idiots above, English is clearly not necessary in a web design environment when foreign countries have the biggest developing web markets in the world.
My advice is to go for PHP, simply because it's a more widely used language - most web developer positions will REQUIRE that you know PHP and MySQL.
On the other hand, there are fewer ASP professionals out there, so those jobs could have less competition.
They're very similar though in many respects, so once you've learnt one you could probably learn the other one fairly easily.
Reply:Before you go to website design, you should study English--because you will never get a job if you don't improve your writing skills.
Reply:You should study English. You would need to know how to spell in order to get anywhere. Sorry.
Reply:your english is kinda good but it's a little cracked. it shouldn't be that hard to learn.
