What are my chances of actually getting a skilled workers visa?

I've checked into a little bit and meet the qualifications. I'm 40, I have a Masters Degree in computer science. I have 10 + plus years work experience in C++. 2 years in Java, Oracle %26amp; Networking. I have .net %26amp; visual basic but those skills are not on the list. I'm single with grown kids that will not be coming. I don't want to migrate just work a few years.

What are my chances of actually getting a skilled workers visa?
I think you have a good chance.

perhaps you could apply for job vacancies online, then if you secure a position that would support your application.

the company may even sponsor you, I think it's for four years.

you could also come here on a visitor visa, the fee is not expensive, and take some time to look around.

alternatively, just make an application to migrate. you can gain Permanent Resident status without needing to make a citizenship application.

you might like to check the tax implications. the Australian government has some fairly nasty rules regarding non-resident and foreign income.
Reply:Just keep trying and ringing people. My cousin has been trying for a year and the only way he is going to get one is to keep ringing them and getting something done about it. They dont usually come to you. You have to go to them.. Hope it helps a bit...

then click on the link marked "Eligibility Points Test and Requirements"

in the new window click on the links and it will explain how point ar calculated

if you score over 120 there is a good chance youll get a permanent residence visa

for people under 30 there is a 1 year working holiday visa but over 30 the permanent residence visa would be the go

because you get issued with a temp work visa for 2 years before you get the the permanent residence visa

so if you only want to work for 2 years just dont follow up when the temp visa expires

ofcorse dont tell immagration you only want to stay for 2 years

they want to hear you are planing on moving permanently

hope this helps
